Personally I prefer the DS, but I used to play a couple games on my dad's vita when I was little.
I think one of them was GTA or a rip off of GTA, and the other was a fighting game where you could play as groot??
Tbh I wanted one as a kid, but I feel it would've been wasted on me- I wanted it just for the PS2 classic collections- nothing else. I wasn't a huge RPG fan like I am now, most of the Vita exclusives didn't interest me, I already owned the cross-platform games on 3DS, etc etc
I was so hyped when I got one as a kid but I only ever owned like 5 games for it, it started with a really good line up but quickly fell into obscurity there was only one other kid at my school that had one and no one else cared π
In a lot of ways, yeah, but it's much more expensive and isn't nearly as easy to bring around. I'm waiting for the day they make some sort of "deck mini" type device that doesn't cost a ton
I still have mine, I loved this handheld so much, I am sad it never took like it should have. It had oled before anything else and had motion controls? I need to find where my charger went in the move so I can charge it. you all make me want to play it again. I'm coming Breath of Fire III PSP ed!
My memory card bricked on me & at that point, replacing one was too expensive for me & mine eventually just got put away somewhere instead of me currently using it.
my brother owned one ..... im sure he has it still somewhere but honestly .... i did not really like it when i borrowed it and played a Anime JRPG game on it the handheld got REALLY hot to handle
I got mine embarrassingly late just last year for 70 bucks and I absolutely adore it. So many great bangers in term of JRPGs, not to mention the PSP/PS1 backwards compatibility.
If you buy used be warned the analog sticks tend to start drifting and they are very difficult to fix. I loved my Vita dearly for years and sadly this issue took it away from me. As an upside modding it is now relatively easy thanks to the firmware not being updated anymore.
Bro you can get them online from GameStop for like $145. Mod that guy and youβre SET. It was super easy to do and Iβve never modded a console in my life
It's genuinely a nice console to have. Many psv games have been ported to other systems but being able to emulate psp and ps1 games on such a portable device is really nice.
If you intend to buy one and physical games for it, look up 3G OLED models - their 3G module is on a mPCIe card that can be repurposed for a community-made SD card reader, so you wouldn't have to give up the game cartridge slot for SD2 Vita flash cartridge (which needs to alway stay in the console).
I had one when I was younger, easily my favorite handheld Iβve ever had. The back having touch response and being able to use that for games was cool as hell
I remember being on the fence about selling mine, then I picked up P4 Golden one winter and started searching out other JRPGs and VN style games. Ended up keeping it much longer and loving it for as long as I had it π₯²
Im not fucking kidding when I say you gave me an epiphany on a question I've been having in my mind for MONTHS - I've known the general design of my very first gaming console but I forgot the name of it until I saw this post, THANK YOU, OH MY GODDDD
Yes, hacking the Vita is so easy. Someone wrote an amazing guide. Emulates PSP and PS1 basically natively. Also emulates NES, SNES, GB, and GBA no problem. And getting all the Vita games for free...can't really beat it.
I have mine still, but the left joystick is damaged and I haven't done anything about it π. My ideal scenario is to fix it and then see if I can turn it into a good emulator which I saw it's a big thing.

But, I still have my original DS and I love still playing on it.
I think one of them was GTA or a rip off of GTA, and the other was a fighting game where you could play as groot??
I reccomend tales of hearts r.
I love Valve for making Steam Deck but this thing is too gargantuan for my liking ;;
Now the steam deck, that's a handsome unit.
Would recommend.

Check this place at times. Sometimes you can get them for even lower.
I'll never forgive myself.
at least i have my psp, but for some reason younger me thought it a great idea to sell all my games for it ;-;
It's still got a super active homebrew community so there are still games being made or ported for it! π
It's that time once again, I don't need it but I WANT it π₯²
