Smitten Kitchen is a trove. I routinely make something very similar with cannellini beans, pasta or another grain, canned roasted tomatoes, garlic, thyme or bouquet garni, vegetable stock, and strips of kale or other green. For me, the herbs + stock + greens really complete the dish.
