I’m tempted to say a few things about last night’s tragedy. But I won’t. And you shouldn’t, either.

the thing about the NTSB is that barring an Act of Congress, it literally doesn't matter what anyone says about them, they're going to do their job as they see fit and make their recommendations and because, as they carry no weight of law, there's not a force that can stop them

with the caveat that I would have to brush up on con law to give any kind of legal advice to an NTSB official, and this is explicitly not that - not really? They've got an authorizing act that only allows for-cause removal.

an Act of Congress could do it (they are Article I for a reason) but no.

so... no, no _legal_ mechanism to apply coercion to them, but plenty of extralegal mechanisms to withhold funding for them to do their work, constructively fire them, or otherwise force them to sue to get reinstated.

... no, not really any of that either. they were established /to be an annoyance to the Department of Transportation/. that wouldn't work if they were susceptible to such kinds of extralegal maneuvering.

I don't even see how the President could "constructively fire" them because he isn't their boss

Yeah, granted given how accidents like that are such a hobby for me--I doubt anything they'd say would be a shock, rather I'll be like "oh that's like these other ones in part"

Although all things that have happened in the past covers a lot.
