Buy your music on Bandcamp. Go to record stores. Talk to people about music and ask what they've been listening to. Spotify sucks. There are other, better ways to find and listen to music that actually supports the artists that make it.

I have a Plex server set up with my music on it and use Plexamp on my phone to listen! I know some people that are running Jellyfin and have good things to say about it but I don't have any experience with it myself.
