i was pitching a TV show last year and the feedback i got was that streaming platforms and networks were already prepping for a trump win by planning to slash contributions from/visibility for people of color

Which makes sense if their trying to curry favor for a merger or to avoid regulatory retaliation, but is bad business considering his first term showed how eager people were for any media which offered an antidote to Trump and the terrible daily reality he created
And his good favor doesn’t last long. Something will set him off despite their best efforts, even something as petty as their show having higher ratings than his joint address
a lot of ostensibly independent cultural decision makers - way more than zero anyway - were planning to comply in advance. before trump even got back into office.
the irony is that they could have covered trump in a way that would have made his win far less likely. by simply being honest.
but they didn’t because they think he’s going to make them even more wealthy if they play nice. big risk with a violent authoritarian oligarch but maybe!
