I have, Worf, thanks for asking. Maybe next time you want to talk about something I told you in confidence we don't need to announce it in front of the extras?
I don't hate it but I don't love it either. It felt like an extended episode of the series more than an actual movie. And because it was a theatrical fil, they had to appeal to a widespread mainstream audience of casuals and that pissed off the hardcore fans like me. All the Trek movies did that!
I kinda hate it.
The 1st of 5 Trek flix in a row about an angry man seeking revenge by a terror attack with a new weapon.
Also a Starfleet admiral caring about the fountain of youth & the crew reinforcing a current obsession of youth is disgusting.
Also the joystick & Picard/Ru’afo fight was stupid
I did think it was interesting when it was revealed that the Son'a were actually the same race as the Ba'ku. The Ba'ku who became the Son'a left their world to develop technology and had powerful starships that made them a threat to the Federation. Ru'afo wasn't what I'd call a good villian, though!
That was a good twist, but I think the basic premise of the movie was anti-Trek.
F. Murray Abraham is awesome, I don’t hate his character, but Star Trek movies need to stop building idiotic revenge stories around villains. It worked in Khan & 1st Contact, but Trek should be about so much more.
Michael Piller wrote the script, he was the only writer/producer involved with Trek that stayed loyal to Gene's original vision for the future after he passed away. That's why the senior officers all agreed with Picard and joined him to rescue the Ba'ku. But I HATED so much of the dialogue in this!
