I’ve taken 24 hours… and, once you get over the ridiculousness of ‘Who Killed Joel?’, I think it is objectively the worst plotted #Corrie storyline in modern history I’ve seen virtually every episode since 2001 and nothing else comes close for me (even Jim/Katie!). I think it's the frequency of these flashbacks etc, and coming on the back of the hideousness of Paul's ghost, the missing Lauren/Roy sequences, etc. The production team needs to embrace and lean into the soap traditions and not constantly want to make another genre.

Someone who is a long term fan and understands the DNA of the show needs to take charge. Drop it to three/ four episodes a week too (but can't see that happening anytime soon). I still mainly enjoy it but I fear for its future.

The most maddening thing is that, as producer of #Corrie, you have a show with a history spanning generations, full of household names and decades of character development. You also have the most unique form of storytelling to take viewers on a journey with your stories

Jim and Katie was the worst storyline for me. But this has taken the biscuit. It's a shame because I genuinely enjoyed Joel and I thought the two-hander-ish episode with Joel and Lauren was great.

It’s not just the plotting, it’s the emphasis on very new characters and the terrible execution with flashbacks and incidental music etc.

The show has truly jumped the shark. As far as I can deduce, it nosedived as a result of a) six eps a week, b) post-lockdown block filming and c) Iain MacLeod as producer

First two won’t change so the question is can Kate Brooks turn things around? And will she even be given the space to do it..?

I don’t disagree but Jim/Katie asked the viewer to go along with one totally ridiculous retcon and it spiralled from there. In this case, there were so many bizarre plot decisions, continuity errors and directional choices - and that’s before you get on to the editing/SFX. Utterly appalling
