It is a faculty hiring freeze. That is the early career researchers, the generation who, by the way, had to do their research through covid as well. Faculties are not going to be fired or personally affected. Their research output and their grad students will be.
Bullshit. It's an overall indirect("overhead") funding cut from every single angle of government, hitting every single aspect of these universities. Faculty are absolutely getting hit hard.
