Why do the province and feds outsource everything? It is maddening. Healthcare is a public good just take responsibility and run labs yourselves! Same with all the weird quasi-company things like ICBC.

LifeLabs union members work under horrible conditions: the company pads its profits by short-staffing. This leads to stressful experiences for both staff and patients.

And Lifelabs staff get $4/hr less than hospital staff for exactly the same job! This should be met with shock, not a shrug.

And life labs refuses to protect their employees by requiring mandatory N95 masks even when our freedom to infect disease better matter most PHO does put short mask mandate on it. It’s only inferior leaky surgical life labs, and everybody else should require and 95 masks.

And it gets worse: last summer LifeLabs was bought by Quest, one of the big US lab corporations.

So now we have a US for-profit company creating unacceptable conditions for both workers and patients in our Canadian universal public healthcare system.

It shocked me to learn Lifelabs, which I use for labs and all my bloodwork, is an American company. Colour me surprised to learn family in Dawson Creek have another specimen collection institution to go to - something I had never heard of, because Lifelabs is our main option - hospitals (1)
