Mostly I'm having to explain that even if programming were not so obtuse than it could be 100% trivialized by a language model, that it's really no different from anything else in history where computers replaced a job that people used to do. People are just eating up the sensationalism though..

It's really hard to explain to people who think tech CEOs are like the final boss of programmers that AI actually won't replace programmers, because it has no ability to reason and only a small portion of software engineering is outputting code (the only part LLMs can actually do).

The devs at my place have played with it a bit & say that it's not bad at giving them a base, but that so far, it's always needed tweaking, and sometimes has been outright wrong. It may help get them to solutions quicker, but there's no way it could ever replace them.
