Bluesky needed a verification system, which is why they made one. I've been saying this from the start. Domains as handles is a cool feature because it guarantees a way of having a globally unique username which people can't preemptively register, but it's not suitable as a means of verification.

Do such "individuals" as defined above need verification, or conceptually is verification something really only useful for "brands?"
At the end of the day, individuals can be brands, but only brands _need_ verification of a public profile.
Taking this to be true, I'm not sure I understand the specific issues w/ brands using domains to self verify X-platforms.
