More important is that they have the required training. Civil obedience classes are important. So they know not to react to the surroundings. Service dogs can be affected by other untrained dogs and it can harm their abilities to perform. Most states provide classes at a cost. Glad you have help.
Thank him with belly rubs for me. Tyson is training to replace the sudden passing of my last service dog. He is doing ok but the beagle in him is very stubborn. The hardest thing I'm dealing with is he is so short he wants to inspect everything on the floor lol.
Roo has completed puppy kindergarten, basic obedience, & therapy dog/handler skills. To be certified as an ATD therapy dog team, we had to pass 3 site visits with an ATD certified tester. As a therapy dog, he’s been taught to ignore other dogs while working - min 2-ft distance from other dogs
