I should be used to it but the amount of roads that are closed in Amsterdam for upgrades at any one time is insane. A constant work in progress to upgrade. The one on the left is a bit wild though even for A'dam standards - basically cycling the wrong side of the road. Not that it stops me from taking that route

Looking back at photos I took in Amsterdam in 2015 and it's like a completely different city. Meanwhile in Hackney they spend decades talking about upgrades like Pembury Circus and then the designs end up being car dominated crap

It’s the greenery that’s the clincher for me. It just makes it a much nicer place to be. Towns/Cities aimed at people’s needs and likes instead of just vehicles.

My experience in London (esp CS7) is that they open a “bike lane” then it spends most of its time closed while work takes place on the road
