I've thought about rebuilding Meren for quite some time. It was my first ever edh deck and first ever precon, and also my first experience with Magic. I was a shitty pilot then, and I'd love to be an even worse pilot now!
I did rebuild him, but with all the new stuff, he still needs work. But for the 7 the deck is atm, it's still pretty ridiculous. The tech we got from 2018 on makes the old version of the deck unrecognizable to how we play now (except mulldrifter, I don't think that'll ever go out of style).
I think a major disconnect is trying to play Karador like a reanimator deck when he’s really midrange. You throw some blink effects and payoffs with a birthing pod stuff gets nutty.
Karador is good, but compared to, like, nearly every other graveyard recursion commander, he's absolutely glacial. Some are better at filling the yard, others get creatures back for incredibly low costs. Karador is just... He's kinda too fair.
Thorn of the Black Rose is actually my favourite deck to date, I have to run the busted engine cards (study/remora) to make it viable though
Run low cmc creatures with relevant ETB (Night Clubber is my current favourite card in the deck) and try to seize the early game then never let up pressure
This makes me happy! My marchesa deck went through a LOT of iterations, landed in a good spot with Modular, then was disassembled as other artifact decks pulled me in a different direction!
Love Animar cause he's just my stompy, over 50 creatures deck.
And even though Kadena is not as old, she uses my favourite mechanic from when I first started playing MTG back in Onslaught
From what I'd like to call "The Coffee House Era" of MTG art. Something about some (not all) of the MTG art up to (and apparently including) Tempest had this quirky, indie artist vibe to it. I always had an affectionate feeling towards it.
I am on a quest to make a viable, effective Commander deck with either of these two leading the charge. To call this a challenge would be an understatement, but one I'm weirdly drawn to.
My first deck was Marath, Will of the Wild. You got to play around with tokens, counters, and accidentally comboing out. I also loved the concept of a commander becoming stronger on recast.
Was going to say Ghave but I think I still have scars.
Let's go with Zedruu because it's so unique, everyone loves her, I just wish she could keep up with my meta while still being fun. Maybe it's time to try again....
Not so much a commander, but the deck building philosophy of cramming all creatures from my collection with power >4 into one incoherent mess of a deck. Much simpler times…
I am on the fence if I want to move this from my boomer jund pile to a more flavorful version. I imagine Kresh as an Outlaw/Landbound Pirate and then just have a Threaten subtheme.

Still have this one build. It all started when my playgroup wanted to try out this new EDH thing and I had to grab a random Jund legend for my Jund highlander deck. No synergies involved at the start.
Basically all the OG Theros Gods. I still have my Erebos deck, but back in the day you would see them all the time. When I sit down and see someone with an Iroas or Karametra, it brings back good memories!
I run them in my EDH decks now, but haven't tried them as Commanders. Been kinda curious about people's experiences; I wasn't even 100% sure if they could be legally Commanders (wasn't their thing that they weren't creatures until your devotion passed a certain number?)

Not boomer enough?
And they just hit different.
Darien, soldier typal, self damage, token doublers and soul sisters to gain it back.
Azami, wizard typal, draw my deck and win the game (usually with a combo).
Casting one full price creature from your graveyard each turn just doesn't cut it anymore. 🥲
Run low cmc creatures with relevant ETB (Night Clubber is my current favourite card in the deck) and try to seize the early game then never let up pressure

I just wanted to give everyone lil presents 🥺
If someone else has an LED you just win usually.

Pheldagriff was my personal boomer commander for a while though
Also rebuilt Jhoira, but was a bit sad to find the game is so much faster that everyone just beats your ass before any spells resolve nowadays :/
