I believe MGS2 came out either the same week or month as Mulholland Drive did in the theater here and both having main character switcheroos as a plot device definitely had me questioning reality in general for awhile.
Only Lynch could have made this film what it is. What insight, fluidity in storytelling, that almost forcibly captures you to watch. Such a perfectly ethereal vibe before it all comes crashing down in a torrid whirlwind of terror and confusion, leaving you dizzy with inquisition. Top tier ART.
I love the influence that David Lynch has had on Japanese culture! Both of you write stories that have inspired me with unexpected curiosity by breaking the patterns of what people expect. We were lucky for David Lynch and we are lucky for other inspiring storytellers like you Kojimasan!
