I've noticed a lot of misconceptions going on primarily on bsky abkut the bash that has definitely gone over longer than it was intended for but even then as the host I want to clear as much of these up as I can so I'm making this thread once.

I can say, a lot of people have been very happy to be able to meet up and gpose and experience everything together. This is quite literally the only way all DCs can even meet up and it's wonderful to be able to see moots that I would not be able to see on NA. Thank you for making a great event! ♥
You made a community based event that granted not everyone got to but has spiralled into something that was not your intention I’m sure, the intention behind it was pure and positive, unfortunately there will always be people that twist or warp things it’s not your responsibility for these people :)
I think there are going to be douche bags wherever people gather, it's just a given really *shrug* I think though for the most part it has been really fun and the vast majority of the people there have been really nice to each other. I loved popping by and seeing what ppl had cooked up
- waterslides, giant angels, demons, nappied lalas, yahts, mechas etc, the list goes on! I always looked forward to what new thing I might see and new ppl I might make friends with.
Feri even though you are the one that made the event I don't think it is fair for you to feel like it's your responsibility to address anything. You have zero control over other people and how they will behave, and it's not within your power to predict that.
There's a few issues with the event but those are all human issues that you as the host cannot be held accountable or responsible for. So please be careful not to shoulder other people's behaviors because there's bad actors everywhere and those actors are not your problem really.
oh yeah they can! it can get congested, but it was done on Dynamis last year! it was a ton of fun to go to and see all the winter stuff. I am pretty sure they're planning it again, it's called Winter Market. You should come!
The interesting thing to me is that several people I know were getting reported for their PF listings that were identical to the ones they used on their home servers/DCs, with GMs stating that the links led to discord servers that hosted NSFW content. Some got 3days, others warnings.
It is 100% on the people going there and posting those PFs but the inconsistency in the punishments is very odd to me. Especially since they don't seem to be a problem on their home DCs, that or no one reports them, who knows?
In my experience MANY of the things that are accepted as commonplace are actually reportable offenses, it's moreso that on average you won't get reported for something unless someone is incredibly in the mood to harrass or antagonize.
Different punishments is definitely a bit weird, maybe different GMs, but definitely the issue here more than there is most people don't report more than likely cause mod complacency though people have been trying to target people at the spot so things that aren't okay are easier targets.
It's annoying when it's a GAME and we're literally having fun. I was very fortunate to find it couple days later but still going and though i didn't stay long, it was cool seeing so many ppl enjoying such a cool event thanks to the travel. Still need to be careful BUT everyone was so nice about it ♡
Thank you for this, Feri! I've been trying to combat a lot of the misinformation but kind of gave up. I also want to add that its important to note that the person who got banned had NSFW on the front page of their carrd and was also advertising RMT for gposes.
I always support people playing it safe with large events like this and I've removed my RP carrd from my search comment every time that I've gone but the amount of fearmongering on this site surrounding the event has gotten out of hand.
Feel like i saw a misconception too about it not being an event for vanilla players which is totally untrue everyone was welcome didn't feel left out at all everyone i spoke too was so nice 😅
Now I can confirm if people are actually mass reporting, but the only to proofs we have was someone getting banned for ten days for being on the beach for a hour due to their carrd (they deleted that post) and a person who used vulgar language in their bio (They got a warning
There's no other known \ confirmed incidents and there hasnt been any mass ban \ suspensions.
Next "OCE players hate this."
As the host I am getting like literally 40-50 tells on a basis and most voyagers, I have gotten a good portio. from OCE and even Bismark players telling me theyre happy
to see their server getting so much attention. Even seen comments on twitter from OCE players dispelling the notion. Of course there are gonna be disatisfied people but its not some whole "OCE hates foreigners" thing I've seen plastered around here. I felt bad myself till I got these comments.
Hearing this eased my heart. Saw a few post talking about how this party has gone long enough and its disrupting the OCE players genuinely made me feel bad about going.
Of course there will be those groups that do feel that way but to hear that a good amount say they are happy eases my worries.
So I'm going to stick by that even if this has gone on longer than expected, I've seen a lot of people from all sides having fun making friends, theres been no mass action from SE mods even if theres a "mass report" and if this goes on I'm sure SE will add a new Costa instance as a response.
Sorry this was longer than I expected but seeing these things going around bsky felt really weird and wanted to at lwast address them as the starter of the initial event.
Square gave an opportunity for all servers to come together in one spot, I used it. No 'selfish' reasons like a post said.
I said it before and I'll say it again, you started something for some fun that turned into more than tou expected, all it says is that the community needed and wanted this and I for one I'm glad you started it ❤️
As with everything, it's the louder minority that get to you. I for one am thankful to you for organizing this, and even it went out of proportions, it allowed people who were unable to be there day 1 and 2 to join and meet others and make new friends.
There was some malcontent last night stirring the pot with shout chat about congesting the instance. But there were also Bismarck natives who were defending the gathering and expressing that they were happy for its presence.
The second person just got told to switch their bio search, and was let go right afterwards.
Overall, GMs OBV knows about the party, and everything, but I'm sure they're looking for actual malicious behavior to act on. But if you're not yelling out mods/syncshells, you're safe.
I don't blame you words of mass reporting is always scary D: for whats its worth though theres only been two incidents, one is the biggest (???) cause its a ten day ban for going to the beach for one hour, no pictures or anything.
Second one was a person had "My P*ssy do cartwheels" as their search
Okay the pussy comment is just funny lmao but just standing there is just weird and wild to me like why is standing here any different than doing it in Limsa (like five meters to the west haha) vs here? just silly to me
That's why that one's weird to me too. No screenshots, an isolated incident, and GMs don't usually react to reports super fast unless the person has already gotten in trouble with GMs before (Priority listings).
So I'll admit I have my criticism of the event, but do know it has absolutely nothing to do with you and I can tell your intentions were never malicious.
As the host you can't really control how the attendees act and how they carry on, but I appreciate you making a statement despite not having to.
Yeah, just been seeing fingers pointed at me and it's just stressing me out a lot. But seeing the comments on the past posts and this one that its not really a majority feeling here, and that's relieved a lot of that.
True the majority think that it's not your fault logically it isn't hope you are able to have a good day and I'm excited for the next time you host another party
Yeah donno why people think that this is in any way against square's TOS, it would not do them any good to mass ban people who are just enjoying the game, doing their own thing, does it slow servers, sure, but I remember back when some BIG WoW creators started playing and it locked up...
The thing that's against TOS is people yapping about their mods in shout chat/Novice Network. "Don't talk about Fight Club..." and all that. Long as people are at least a little subtle, I don't think SE wants to ban people for having fun. :D
Yeah, it really is, I'm generally surprised those people didn't get weeded out, that's incredibly irresponsible and shows how overly complacent people have gotten about mods because of how rare Square acts on it.
I think it is also less so that since you would still have to have enough proof someone is modding for it to be actionable, just being there really doesn't mean you mod. So pulling the trigger would be difficult, where someone with a Caard in a profile could be actionable.
Could being key, it really all depends on the GM, and the mass reporting would be more detrimental to GMs actually wanting to ban because of the sure number of reports with no substance. Some that could have substance actually slipping through the cracks.
The world they started in for a few days, this isn't entirely a new phenomenon nor a bannable offense with DC travel. Just with OCE being the only connection between EU and NA it makes for the perfect place for massive amounts of people to go.
Honestly, it isn't bad to test before adding new stress across longer distance, though probably would behoove them to make it so areas open at least an extra instance if the area is capped back when I made Mae I wasn't able to go through MSQ just because my timing with mass hunt trains and venue...
Like even the people who run 20+ accounts just to idle in a world is not a bannable offense, though probably should be especially for one specific person who had half naked roe standing around in all the major cities to be a nuisance, even their name is something that was meant to get on the nerves.
My frustration with all the people policing the party goers over "inconveniencing the OCE players" aren't encouraging people to take their complaints about the server issues to SE. The server itself is the issue, not the players but i haven't seen a single forum post and I've been checking.
We're blaming each other for using the goddamn DC travel the way SE bloody well laid out for us and yet the million dollar company is getting no flack from these naysayers for their servers being so weak that the lowest population world is breaking with an extra 200 people. Make it make sense 🙄
I know we love to roll out the "small Indie company pls understand" joke but this really is a situation where we should demand better from the company getting millions of subscriptions worth of money every month but their MMO can't handle people wanting to do MMO things.
You can't control grown adults and it's unfair for anyone to hold you accountable for the behavior of other grown adults who have free-will and know better, some with kids.
