Wise words about autism research.

The new crop of PhD students always fuels my optimism.

Research will NEVER catch up to our lived experience. Not really.

But they can and ARE learning from us now. Autistics on advisory boards and conducting research ourselves.

Hang in there my friends. 🫢🏻
I understand it as research has prioritized theory over lived experience and, as such, it will always be behind the curve. However, if a researcher's ear is to the ground and -better yet if they have shared lived experience - they are more likely to be pushing the needle further forward.
