Like 90% of my overly obtuse Steam library, I have yet to play this, but that sounds like a load of fun, and I have always heard very positive things about this game.
You get to be a one man orc terrorist cell basically, and by the end, you can eavesdrop on them drinking around a campfire telling ghost stories about how you nearly killed them or killed a buddy or chief of theirs or whatever.
I'm quite into it. Maybe I'll save / line this one up for the just before the release of the new Peter Jackson movie(s) coming out. Could still be a ways, but at least not abandoned.
For some reason the central narrative pattern of assassin's creed - murder the bad leader to effect positive political change - is satisfying right now.
Just started this game a couple days ago and I very much do not understand what I’m doing, so far mostly just wandering around and trying to kill orcs until one or more inevitably kill me and then I respawn atop the same tower? The storyline seems very far for me to travel at this point
On first play through until you get kinda decent with the combat it’s easy to get stuck. especially if you find yourself running into the same captain over and over. Best to try moving around a little, getting some XP, until you level up
The regions are huge and there's a whole second map you unlock eventually. Follow the story quest until you learn to brand the orcs and it should make more sense.
When you're new and not familiar with the systems, running away if you draw too much heat is a must. You have to build to 1 man army
Did my first play trough a month or so ago. I really liked it but felt there were systems/missions that I had no idea what they rewarded. I was also a bit disappointed with the Nemesis System, unsure what I was expecting but everyone was hyping it so much that I might have had high expectations.
I played it with the Elf Woman skin and just pretended during every cutscene that she was in disguise as a grizzly ranger bro. She's a very good actor.
It got kind of ruined for me when I saw a video of a guy literally playing it with his eyes closed while mashing his forehead against the keyboard. Like I thought I was really good, turns out the game is just comically easy.
The stealth things are tricky and engaging. I also like spending 5 straight minutes button mashing and making a dozen heads explode when I fuck up the stealth and get caught.

I played one (twice?), but never followed up with 2.
