And since people seem to very often not know, you can check out books and magazines online for your eReaders. You just need your lib card number, or to apply for an online-card. (For CPL)
When my son was in college, he worked at the library. He couldn't cope when they threw book out, so he took every last one. Lots of fun bringing him home after graduation.
I've got a stack of books relevant to pre-1600 history and literature that were probably going to get recycled from a local library, and a stack of university-discard philosophy.
I remember being four or five, and thinking the absolute best thing ever was my mom taking me to the book sale at the library. I got SO MANY books that way….
Can someone explain to me how libraries make money? And how does the author receive money if you aren’t purchasing their book? I always buy. And then later after I read them I will trade.
Reminds me I need to get a library card. We have tons of books at our house, but none from the library. I mostly read stuff from Irvine Welsh, he wrote "trainspotting" & that's one of my favorite movies👍
That's not a problem. The problem is ever reading the books I own and intend to read, with a constant stream of library books always bumping them. This is a good problem to have.
I usually have from 5 to 6 books, and very few are returned un-read. Love the experience of learning from others especially those who have a different view of life than me.
I saved a bunch of water damaged books from my school library. They were going to be thrown out but they went in my backpack instead. Wavy pages, but still very readable!
