Subfamily Cypripedioideae includes 5 genera/170 spp of slipper orchids. They are recognizable by their pouch-like lip, 2 lower sepals fused & 2 anthers. Here’s Libby Besse (with yours truly) & her namesake Phragmipedium besseae (Maja Dumat CCBY2). #Orchidaceae #botany 🌾🧪🌱
