First, you can view these sequences, along with sequences from humans infected in Washington State recently on our 2y and all time H5N1 and H5Nx trees: https://nextstrain.org/avian-flu/h5n1/ha/2y?s=A/British_Columbia/PHL-2032/2024. These are not visible on our cattle outbreak build, because they are unrelated and fall outside the cattle cluster.

Instead, they descend from a separate set of introductions that occurred into the Pacific coast in 2022 from Asia (red cluster nested within green in the tree above, closeup here)
