US Senate Democrats on Monday afternoon “to sound the alarm” that Elon Musk and his DoGE team were reportedly granted access to the federal government’s central payments system, which handles nearly $6 trillion and the vast majority of all federal disbursements.

A single press conference isn’t going to win or lose this fight. And having conversations and events at home are exactly what will. Press conferences are great for communications, but hearing from people back home is what give those statements weight.

Honestly, this stage, yelling real loud is one of the best options available to Democrats. Folks elected dual GOP majorities and Trump/Musk. Their connection to the actual levers of government are pretty indirect — and it’s mostly achieved through managing public sentiment.
