An interesting vote in favor of Russell Vought: Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine. She’s the chair of the Appropriations Committee. Vought is vocal about wanting to overturn a 1974 law that requires the president to spend (and not withhold, or “impound”) money directed by Congress.

but laughing aside if true - that's not the job of gov't staff manning the DC switchboard - they're supposed to be neutral in actions whatever their personal politics.
I'd do email via Senate.Gov to both Senators' Collins and Warren to get on record what staff did.
