I tried out Jottacloud a few years back when I was scouting for cloud storage. I liked it a lot but it was a bit slow. After trying a bunch of services, these are the ones I’d suggest you look into: #pCloud, #Filen, #Megasync and #Icedrive. They all have native Linux apps. - ThreadSky

pCloud requires you to pay extra for encryption whereas the others have it included. Filen is based in Europe and was a bit slow for me (Japan). Megasync is the most expensive of the bunch. And I think Icedrive doesn’t have a sync folder (only a virtual drive). Hope that helps.

thanks, I'm on the move from dropbox to somewhere closer. Do you know jottacoud works on linux? Or better use any of the other 4 suggestions you made?

If you need a graphical interface then pCloud and Mega both work very well on Linux. PCloud is cheaper but Mega has end-to-end encryption. PCloud also works like an extra drive whereas I think Mega only syncs (like Dropbox).

I tried pCloud a week ago. In 15 minutes I was spammed at least 25 times by them. That was the quickest I ever canceled something I just signed up for.

Yeh they are a bit aggressive about their advertising. That’s why I switched from them to Mega initially but I went back when I found a really good upgrade deal for pCloud. No marketing since then, so it’s only for the free tier.

I used jottacloud a few years ago and in general I liked it but there was something that stopped me using it (can’t remember exactly what it was). I think there’s only a command line utility for it, or it works with Odrive (also a command line app).

Nothing especially big. I think it may have been more due to my location. I also found Filen to be a bit slow, probably for the same reason.
