Don’t they kind of have a point? A medical degree does involve a ton of memorisation, and it never made a lot of sense to me, especially with specialised physicians. Why do you need to memorise the Latin name of every bone in the body before you can become a dermatologist?

Having a basic vocabulary is essential for communication between teams, and the education is designed to move learners toward judgement.
Applying that knowledge and judgement in a caring way is yet another tier of their education.
Error-prone shortcuts are not the way.
Why teach basic traffic laws in driver's ed if you could just include a printed copy of the traffic code in the glove box of every car?
