Well now that you mention it I probably should have said grammy history. But if you Google most awarded artist in history, Beyonce is the top result with MJ second. Then all the headlines are about the Grammys and her being most awarded in Grammys etc. So you're probably right
I wouldn't say that it was sudden. I knew a few people who really didn't like her but kept their mouths shut because people would almost literally apparate out of nowhere to unilaterally defend her, regardless of topic. I think I saw a few joke memes and comics about this phenomenon back then.
At the same time, it is a little frustrating seeing people talk like her music has never held merit or that there's zero reason for anyone to like any of her less well received music.
Agreed. Her music surely has had an impact in many ways. Me myself I’m not a fan of every album she’s released, I have my favs. With Cowboy Carter I actually I enjoyed what she did because of the work as a whole it’s an amazing piece of art/music seeing what she’s capable to do with the genre.
A genre that personally is “new” to me, since I hadn’t paid attention to it. Also, the reclaiming of said genre, country music, means something to many people. I don’t have it on repeat, at all, yet I appreciate the work and understand what it means. IMO and impression.
I wouldn't even call it experimental. It's just good country music created from studying the form and the legacy of historical you underrepresented contributors.
Oh I wasn't referring to the quality or anything when I used "experimental." It was in reference to the purpose and construction of the album(alongside Renaissance).
This.
50% of Pop songs are stupid, empty love songs, the rest is about stupid party songs. Musically, it's all about programmed electronic beats (Calypso, anyone? ) and 4/4 hooks... Every heard of KPop? Same stuff but in Korean 😂
I feel like the most outcast homo because... You're right. She was alright in Destiny's Child, and she had a couple okay songs through the years, but by and large she's hugely overrated in my opinion.
That award was bought by her husband since she cried about it last year. There is no way she deserved that award. It was nauseating watching her get those couple awards.
Not liking Beyoncé doesn’t make you a racist. Personally, I love Doechii and a bunch of other black singers/rappers/musicians. You for example, you like every black musician you know?
I may agree with thinking she’s overrated, but I’m not her target demographic. I also don’t want to yuck other people’s yum. So while I find her overrated, I’m far from the person to claim that as “fact”. She’s just not my cup of tea.
Comments
She's pretty talentless.
I like Bey, but I am not a fan
But I love Cowboy Carter
This was her 'Revolver' moment
Cowboy Carter had a point to prove, but Revolver spoke for itself.
I quite like Beyonce, and I found Cowboy Carter unlistenable amost in total.
But I would never, like, say that to someone directly after they just said how thrilled they were for her award win.
That cartoon deserved to be kicked.
- alright!
SPINNING HEAL KICK!!!
I reckon MJ, for example, is in total still a more awarded artist than Beyoncé.
And to be clear, I didn’t mean to say this in anyway to diminish Beyoncé’s accomplishments. Her accolades are proper deserved. 🙏
I enjoyed it a lot too!
It takes like 15 people to write one song of hers. Overrated for sure.

And I say this as someone who was an early Destiny's Child/Beyoncé supporter but isn't so much the target audience for what Beyoncé™️ puts out
But musicality?
Nah.
She's the pop (and now country) vocal equivalent of so many classical pianists...
And her "country" album is just not good.
2 Hands 2 Heaven was good.
Spaghetti was... Confusing? Terrible? Ill fitted?
The rest were... Not country. Not good.
Also, these lyrics by Christ...
Look at that horse
Look at that horse
Ugh
