Black artists, period. The only two artists they gave those distinctions to were Mike and Whitney. Everyone else? Hip hop or R&B.

Pop? I've seen them, and by them I mean white media, often label Bey as an R&B artist and she usually gets nominations in that category. Prince, yeah. Even though his music genre doesn't exist lol
