Back in the day where I grew up, it was elementary school. Yes, I did not like it much. A few teachers were better than others, nurturing, there was a wrench bitch who enticed friction between races. I'm in touch with a classmate from then and we talk about it. Usually, the same story over and over.
I didn't have a middle school. Went direct from elementary k-7 to HS 8-12. Yet we have middle schools too, just not everyone ends up in one. Weird system.
I had to do summer school due to awful attendance/grades during that time, and THAT sucked, but finally got glasses as a result (hard to want to sit in class/participate when you can't read the board) so overall I think it was OK in retrospect
Oh god, all the orthodontist visits during that era were grueling, especially years later watching my teeth migrate out of alignment entirely just in spite of it all! 🤣
