buying in moderation ahead of a potential collapse could leave not only you but family and friends in a suboptimal position. There's no scarcity right now, I wouldn't be denying someone else access. If nothing bad happens everything will still get used, so no waste.

this isn't a manic panic purchase of an entire shelf of toilet paper. This isn't trying to create artifical scarcity during a crisis to reap profits.

Can't exactly work towards a post-scarcity society if you're dead or debilitated ahead of time. If shit happens, and you run out of food a week later, how do you survive?
