Im sorry but the PC specs on Indiana Jones and the Great Circle are insane. My PC parts are not that old and it just refuses to run. AAA’s obsession with graphical fidelity is out of control

Yeah. The 120GB SSD (required) is nuts unless you have a machine that is more than 2 years old (most made before then have about 250GB SSDs that run the OS).
Personally I'd blame the reduced resources spent on optimization. "In the days of yore" devs would work for months or years to get every bit of performance out of "common" specs. That is a cost, and doesn't make game LOOK better on demos and screenshots. Enshittification again, in another area.
The fun part is that many of these high fidelity things could take less resources, but that requires time for optimizing and time is money. We all know that we can't have that being spent.
How does this help shifting units if the pool of people with the necessary specs is small. Surely solid gameplay with reduced spec to a wider pool makes business sense. I mean do you need more polygons than Half Life 2 to make a great game.
Personally I wouldn’t really be upset if I got 7 years of use out of a card before I had to upgrade to get access to modern features required to run the latest games.
it's a bit absurd that i, a broke dummy, was able to simply download this very expensive-to-develop game just because i bought a subscription to a console that looks like a mini fridge
the worst part is i'm not even going to play it yet because i still haven't started Senua II, another game i downloaded and then never got around to because i bought a subscription to a console that looks like a mini fridge
It always makes me laugh because so many of the games that age incredibly well have a very deliberately stylized art direction. History is much kinder to the creative art styles.
This game isn't designed to run without upscaling?! What the shit?! I have a PC that can run this game but I hate using upscaling of any kind because I notice the graphical infidelity in the background. What specs do you have, just out of curiosity?
Absolutely. I’m willing to bet this is why a lot of people flock to indie games. Lower harddrive space taken up, less hyper realism, and also they’re generally funner.

I'll get you next time, Indiana Jones!!!!!
In the old days we had to wait 6 months for hardware to be released to run games at 40fps at 640x480. Performance would double every 18mo.
I want games that stretch the hardware. This only went away when everyone focused AAA games on the ps3/360 era.
Deep Rock Galactic, Risk of Rain 2, Gunfire Reborn to drop names 😍
