Inspiration for a game can come from many places. Sometimes its other games, but for me its often other artforms. Here's a few things that inspired my upcoming game L'Oaf:

1. Thinking Fast and Slow - Daniel Kahneman. This book on the psychology of heuristics explains how our brains are often not the rational decision making machines we think they are. Social loafing, the principle L'Oaf is based on, is an example of a situation where we don't act rationally.
2. High Society - Reiner Knizia. This classic has an awesome twist in its win condition: most points wins, but the player who spent the most money is eliminated. This directly inspired L'Oaf's endgame condition, where players with a negative reputation are fired if the team fails too many orders.
3. Ratatouille. Once I knew this game was going to be about a French bakery, I immediately knew I wanted the chaotic vibe of this movie to shine through in the art.
