AI needs to make those of us in STEM fields seriously consider what is the purpose of teaching undergraduates. What are the students supposed to leave our classes able to do, and what does that mean for our teaching? We've always struggled with a focus on facts over process.

Like a calculator, it needs to make us evaluate what skills need to be in a person's brain. But because it can do SO much foundational work, it really does change the nature of preparing students.
