NEW - BC will be introducing legislation allowing B.C. to apply tolls/fees to U.S. commercial vehicles using B.C. infrastructure to travel to Alaska. This comes as President Trump pauses tariffs again. #bcpoli

Just think about that one for a minute. There are 300 Alaskan cruise ship stops in Vancouver this year. Each visit brings $3 million to the Vancouver economy. One POTUS executive order setting aside the Jones Act requirement, and all those tourist dollars go down the drain.
Mexico is a country we would like to get things from via truck. I’m not sure to be honest what US practice is on Mexican products passing through to Canada but if there no tolls then for BC to implement one for trucks to Alaska would be a mistake
They don’t pass through. Mexican truckers deliver to the border where goods are warehoused and picked up by American (and to a lesser extent, Canadian) truckers. (Source: lived in CA for 16 yrs.)
Canada needs trailers to pass from Mexico through the US in bond to avoid having tariffs added to Mexican goods. The nationality of the cab and driver doesn't matter.
Why just commercial vehicles? And how about also charging a cruising license for all those 🇺🇸 boats coming up to BC all summer like they charge 🇨🇦 to enter US waters.
I don't like this. As they don't do it to the trucks coming to Canada from Mexico. An it's such a small percentage of truck traffic using BC ..we can get hit hard here.. In believe it's around 95% of good to Alaska are shipped thru the ocean or the air ..
As a Yukoner, I assure you there are many, many transport trucks on their way to Alaska. Will this capture all transportation of goods? No. Will it have an effect? Yes. Should we do it? I think we should.

Got it Premier Eby! 🇨🇦
It should be called the Trump Toll and only be removed when trump is removed from office
“Trump Transport Toll.”
I like it.
