Being informed is a strength of democracy and solely putting the responsibility on the voter to inform themselves is an impossible ask. Capitalism is a vampire, drawing blood from critical resources cities require to thrive. Sadly, the loss of local reporting only makes the vampire more thirsty.

Aargh! This is such bad news. Vancouver metro used to have a variety of excellent local news—Terminal City, Westender, Georgia Straight*, all gone—and now this! Local news is key to community building.
