And whilst I think the lack of positive male role models is worth addressing - I think it's equally important to address to abundance of *bad* male role models. I've met a fair number of men my age who we're invested in men who told them they would simply *be* all these great things -

And when things broke down, it was hard to square that, their self-image and self-worth. It made them angry. When I explained how to me (and many other women) it was business as usual. They said they wished they'd had been given a more realistic image and someone realistic to look up to and follow.

It isn't that most women working now were given a special treatment: from childhood we've had it drilled into us that the only solution to win a race where you start behind everyone else is to "just run faster". Now that the starting lines are closer together, the effect of that philosophy shows.

That being said, boys AND girls deserve to have access to their fathers and it's worth investigating why they don't. (Spoiler: it isn't just because of evil women claiming custody.)

*Seriously* invest in countering far right radicalisation by figures such as Tate. They are causing the real crisis here and harming (often vulnerable) young men.

And yes, boys/men will need different support, because the expectations of the world they were raised with were probably very flawed.

And yes - women have had to deal with some of this as well. But then we've been expected to, for better or for worse. And we have support networks, the gendered expectation that we maintain social networks (ours and partner's as we get older) helps us for once.
