Why are we giving up all our opportunities ahead of negotiations, even if they are unlikely. And if everything is unlikely, what are we negotiating at all?

Well, my advice is : Ukraine, do not lose all hope but prepare for mixed action army/guerilla. And turn to your best European allies for support, mainly Poland, the UK , France and Sweden. Together these are frightening enough for russia..
And his puppetteer is M. Ketamine, who thinks it's much easyer to make profitable deals with corrupt moskow than with EU, for the metals he needs to build more swasticars.
Trump has promised to end the war (ok, not in 24 hrs, that ship has sailed) so Trump would see the end of hostilities as his personal victory. He sees it as easier and quicker to force an Ukraine in to a bad deal than confront russia, which would take much longer that his limited attention span.
Because an ex Fox News host and an ex reality show host know nothing about negotiations (contrary to what 🟠 says!) but are very impressed by criminals like Putler.
Because trump already did the “deal” with putin on the phone—anything else is just show. trump is the “deal guy”, he’s not going to let anyone else do it. In his mind “deals” only get made btwn 2 tough guys.
Anyone who thought trump would be better for Ukraine than hand-wringing biden was deluded.

Orange not president prefers to kiss up and stay in his comfort zone.
When the Russians call his wife a whore, he swallows it. He's so desperately inferior that he'll do anything to hang out with the cool kids. Poor sod.
He also doesn't want to pay a single cent.
That's about it. Everything else he doesn't care about.
What? You thought this was about Ukraine? About democracy and the rule of law? That was before Trump.
Anyone who thought trump would be better for Ukraine than hand-wringing biden was deluded.
