This is UEFA honoring a Russian football player who joined the Russian army to kill Ukrainians before being killed in action.
Are you serious? This person was an invader and a murderer, stopped by defending forces. Honor his victims, not him!

I was a soldier once, and because of that I honour every soldier who has lost their life in combat - especially if it was me who pulled the trigger
What if circumstances saw YOU fighting on the wrong side of history? Shall we desecrate YOUR memory?
THE DEAD HAVE PAID THEIR DUE FOR THEIR SINS. THE DEAD MUST BE HONOURED.
No soldier - not even the Russians - fights to "enslave / exterminate people".
They didn't designate the targets.
Once the fighting starts, the thing a soldier wants most is to make it home - to see their loved ones again.
This man didn't. He paid for his sins.
This doesn't minimise YOUR sacrifice.
Please?
They've been fed a lot of propaganda, and this man in particular has already paid the highest possible price.
I'm not saying that ANY of them should be spared that price.
Just that having paid that price, I'd hope their debt is cleared.
I'm not talking about the brass or units tasked specifically with war crimes - I'll piss on their graves as well.
But your average front line grunt is just trying to get home alive - which is why they surrender.
I've lived and breathed that headspace, I know what it's about.
I feel that to continue dehumanising them beyond death says more about us than it does about them.
Like I said, we don’t honour the Waffen SS.
