1/ How much our bills have gone up under one government is only meaningful in the context of how much our bills would have gone up under either the previous policy settings or an alternative government. Given external factors our bills may have gone up more without government intervention.

The first DMO increase included in this figure would have been published in draft decision under a coalition Government - if it wasn't suppressed by then energy Minister Angus Taylor

It was a silly 'promise' but so was this one. In fact, I would call the DMO an absolute failure.

Especially for people like me who used to get Pay on time discounts etc.

Another interesting wrinkle in this discussion is, what would have happened if the Coalition had stayed in power? It's tricky, and the ALP hung themselves with wording, but it is quite possible prices *have* decreased by $275, just not in absolutely terms. Renewables are resisting price increases

99% Of Aussies are thinking "my bill has NOT gone up $1300!? 🤔" Which leaves most Aussies thinking "This #PeterDutton is talking shite! What else is he talking shite about...?"
