Mojang seems to be considering adding a crocodile or alligator mob to the game and I like this idea of more dangerous mobs in the wilderness that provides a bit of challenge to exploration. Outside of monster mobs that only come out at night ofc

That would be really interesting given they had the opposite stance in the past. But anything is possible & companies often go back on what they state their values are.
If it's anything like Alex's mobs then I'm okay without. That thing gets me everytime I'm near cuz I don't realize it and drags me under. That mob is why I use crayfish guns all the time.
They've avoided demonizing real animals for the most part so far, and I very much appreciate and prefer that - BUT how rad would it be if they were passive unless provoked??
Heck yeah, the polar bear is perfect. I'd love a crocodile like that. Maybe more aggressive, though... like you could provoke it just by getting too close
Polar bear was a completely different situation. It was added in celebration of the birth of Bjorn, Jens’ child. (Bjorn means bear in Swedish.) The stance to not add any RL animals as hostile mobs was added after.
More importantly—what would an alligator/crocodile add to the base/vanilla game?
Made this assumption based on an ibxtoycat video but it might be more accurate to say that this is a suggestion on the Minecraft suggestions Reddit that Mojang does pay attention to and it IS one of the more popular suggestions
Interesting that you think that given Mojang has an official feedback site for game suggestions & it’s linked to in the game itself.
As the former community manager who gave the vanilla gameplay team the community suggestions, they all came from the official feedback site & not Reddit.
