Labour are giving a massive boost to the private health sector. And what does that sector want long term?
To diminish the #NHS as much as possible so they can steal market share.

The people of th UK want a properly funded NHS, I believe. They have not had that under previous governments. In the short term private capacity, though inefficient in the long term, might be used to treat people on waiting lists and in need. Beside additional investment to replace private capacity.

Most talk is around hospital treatment. There are hospitals that need to be improved and/or replaced. Existing hospital capacity might be better used if there was a real alternative in social care for the elderly. The load on hospitals could be relieved by healthier lifestyles and earlier diagnosis.

They have capacity because they have been allowed to freeload on the back of the NHS and syphon of funds by providing relatively simple treatments for profit. The people who need those treatments would be less concerned about the model behind their treatment as long as they don't have to pay.

Considering that the surgeons are quite probably NHS employed consultants operating in their private practices! Operating on people on their lists at a private rate!

It does rather seem that way. Paying private sector prices must simply suck NHS resources away: paying them what it would cost NHS might (might!) work.
