The site was up for sale whether or not The Onion put in their bid. This is because Alex Jones legally had to forfeit any assets to pay what he owed to the victims. So it's good that the Onion bought it instead of a right wing org

So my understanding of how this sale goes is:
The courts mandated he liquidate all his assets to pay for the families
The court chooses how they are bought and sold
Alex Jones doesn't get a say.

Its being taken away from him, every dime goes thru lawyers, to ensure it goes to the families
