had an IRL Jacob Wohl moment just now lol. Sitting at a 'liberal' LA coffee shop and some gen x dudes nearby basically saying "listen my heart goes out to trans people but this election shows we gotta throw em under the bus."

"listen my heart goes out to the Frank family but we have to hand them over to the Nazis" ... Bit of an extreme example but it's a slippery slope when you start deciding someone has to get sacrificed
Sometimes i think abt how in 2016 everyone - including Trump - was very pro-transgender rights openly. To the point that all these big companies, even the NBA backed out of NC due to them passing a bathroom ban. Sometimes i forget this used to be a normal take
been noticing a trend in recent years of ostensibly liberal people who aside from being anti-trump are actually pretty reactionary, and the common thread is almost always that they watch bill maher on a weekly basis
Bill Mayer has become insufferable as per this stupid statement “Democrats have become like a royal family that because of so much incest has unfortunately had children who are retarded.” Which I find that statement to be just down right disgusting. Trying so hard to be funny and relevant
Too many people trying to triangulate on what they think some imaginary "average" voter wants instead of having principles and looking at how to address the economic realities that led people to care more about their paycheck than nebulous concepts like civil rights or democracy.
For the longest time I was perplexed about Bill Maher. "He's a smug know it all dumbass. Who the fuck actually likes him? The left hates him. The right hates him. Who is his target audience? Why does this show get so many views?" Now I know, I guess.
Unfortunately, a lot of shit takes are being emboldened and it's not just a right-wing thing. Never has been, but now that the "fuck your feelings" party won, the true feelings are about to run wild.
Yea I'm ngl maybe this is just because world events have made my tolerance much shorter but in recent months I've just been taking every example of this as self reports
Make sense since they ran on such a robust pro trans campaign… what the fuck? I guess simply tolerating a fellow human is a step too far over the line for the dems.
If this election result has taught me anything, it's that people are extremely fickle and will drop their morals on a dime despite having a shit ton of evidence to the contrary.
One of my hyper liberal (and LGBT) friends straight up told me after the election that the dems are too focused on gender to win anymore. What dems is he seeing??
It's always Republicans screaming about trans people, rarely do I hear liberal politicians even mention them. When they do it's usually in response to an attack from a republican.

Them: "This is all your fault"

We didn't lose those election because of trans people. We lost it because people can buy less trans fats
