Now's a pretty good time to do that, considering that the political class is going to have to pretend the constitution at least arguably says the exact opposite of what it says whenever Trump wants to break it, which will be maybe once a week.

But yes, constitution = bad; legal precedent = better.

I remember growing up and hearing people dismiss ideas because they were "unconstitutional" and I was always like "why does that immediately disqualify things? it's a 200+ year old document. Things change and need to be updated." But that is apparently unamerican

Well... the interpretation is pretty lacking also. It clearly says "well regulated", they took the trouble to spell it out. It's regulated everywhere else, and it would be following the letter of the constitution to regulate just as well as in Europe, for example.

A constitution is a living document, not a sacred text that cannot be changed. The problem isn’t the constitution itself but the way Americans treat it. The constitution can be amended.
