I wouldn’t post on Threads since that’s owned by Meta, but sharing snippets on Bluesky is really popular. There’s even a daily prompt for it, #WIPsnips, hosted by @wipsnips.bsky.social. I haven’t seen anyone caution against sharing snippets here.

There is no Bsky AI that’s going to scrape your work. The biggest caution is that your profile is public so your work could still be scraped by bots but it’s not Bsky itself doing it. Basically up to how you feel about that risk. People feel safer than on twitter because it’s not built in.

That’s a really important point. I’ll probably end up posting on BlueSky, but it’s sad that there seems to be no way to completely avoid AI anymore. 😞

Yup. I used to host WIPSnips on twitter too but stopped as soon as they said users wouldn’t be able to opt out of the AI training. Bsky has at least stated they have no plans to use user content to train gen AI.

Glad to hear it’s safe on BlueSky. It would be nice to post a couple of snippets on here once I’m finished with line edits.

Yeah, there’s not a metric that Meta doesn’t farm for their own use. I don’t touch a single thing to do with Meta. 😬
