I had some thoughts about the argument “A Child or Young Person could come in contact with this media and be harmed so it shouldn’t exist!”

TLDR; Children are SURROUNDED by things that could harm, scare or even kill them every day but the vast majority manage to be okay by being properly educated

This is made funnier by the fact that the parent who let me do the dangerous things didn't have cable so he was the one letting me watch the tamer of the two. Mom on the other hand let me watch Beavis and Butthead (until she actually watched it herself) but The Simpsons were banned (Dad taped it)

Its always so wild for me to read about parents that cared about the media their kids consumed because I watch SOUTH PARK as a preteen. Its a good thing media can't actually alter your morals because that's probably the worst thing possible for a impressionable 11 year old to watch omfg

South Park I had to sneak when it first came out by sleeping over a friend's house when it aired (she had a tv in her room, I didn't yet) but my Mom didn't pay a single bit of attention to any of the books I read because I guess she never thought to consider what might be in them.

I'm also pretty sure I watch the movie Freddy Got Fingered when I was 15. that movie involves a man jerking off multiple animals in addition to it just being overall a film about a person falsely accusing their dad of child molestation. Truly a film of all time that was for teenage!me...

Oh yeah definitely. My parents weren't very good at the whole parenting thing sometimes and they let me watch whatever but that PALED in comparison to letting me go off unsupervised to the local beach all the time as a kid (one that did not have any lifeguards so I could have very easily drowned).
