Firefly Aerospace’s Blue Ghost Mission 1 has touched down successfully, and marks a key milestone in NASA’s quest to have private companies deliver shipments of equipment to the lunar surface.

What happens if they start blasting to find minerals or an explosion from experiments gone wrong? Isn't the moons gravitational pull important to earth for stability? Just asking.
For the moment, he has no competing rocket to grift with. Firefly is tiny relative to falcon, and it takes 10 years to stand up a new launch vehicle. Even Starship - announced 2012, launched 2023. Side note: The 10 year lead time is why it needs NASA funds. Business ROI is 5 years.
And what was the governmental relationship with those businesses like at the time? Did the heads of those countries cancel competitive contracts themselves through closeness to the president and give the contracts to their own companies? What was the comparative quality?
Unfortunately? Space is a waste of money. These private companies are just defrauding investors and destroying the planet. Are you that eager to mine the asteroid belts?
No, so wtf are we giving Musk so much of our monies for space BS? I get the space exploration at ISS for innovation, but I don’t get going to the moon or Mars, what for? We should be taking care of this planet! We’re so f’ing stupid. You’d think billionaires would want the accolades to fix shit!
What if we can get one of these private companies to plant a pride flag on the moon. How much would that piss off the Christian Nationalist/MAGA movement?
Well, as they say, time is money, especially for a privatized space program. I wonder if they got paid for some other things during that long ass flight?

We live in a time where private power is overwhelming public power.
What good does it do the general public giving private companies yet another avenue of profit? I would much rather NASA do it themselves.
Different times.
Through even the 2000s, NASA was a household gov funded name that had businesses vying for contracts. Now NASA barely exists.
Yes, private entities made the devices, but NASA had the power.
Unacceptable !
Awesome job Firefly!
