Ugh, déjà vu. Another step back for our drinking water. Can't believe Trump's EPA is rolling back those PFAS limits. Last year's progress, down the drain.
This EO will be titled: Bathing and Drinking Water Ordinance for the Use of Contaminated Water by Adults and Children. Press release from RFK Jr.: "The bottled water industry is going to be great again, environmental pollution is back, and we're so proud! MAGA!"
And even those "restrictions" were a joke. Thing is, people ingest a ton of this stuff - any sort of "non-stick" pan is loaded with it. Anything Teflon. Gore-tex. Skis. It's in the water, the soil. Any artificial turf field.
My community was one of many that underwent testing for PFAS exposure due to our proximity to our local Air National Guard. It was one of many DOD facilities that used fire-fighting foam in training sessions that contained PFAS which were found to have caused water contamination.
It would help to stop putting chlorine/chloramine in the water intentionally, since they make the PFA class organichlorines which are carcinogenic. Of course, water would still need cleaning agents—can’t just take things away and expect a healthy system. His ‘ignorance’ is a death machine.
Man, if there had *only* been a way to avoid all of this……but, alas, nothing could be done to stop the fascist train we saw coming four years away from running the world over.
“EPA has one mission: to protect human health and the environment,” says Kyla Bennett, a director of science policy at the nonprofit Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility. “This flies in the face of their mission and everything they're supposed to stand for.”
These chemicals can last for thousands of years in the environment. Studies have found that nearly all Americans have traces of PFAS in their blood, while EPA data released earlier this year shows that half of the US population is exposed to PFAS in their drinking water.
Vertasium's history of Teflon [w/PFAS] and exposing the biggest chemical cover up in history - that has polluted the entire global water system and led to potentially dangerous forever chemicals being found in the entire US population.
In NYS, we have the opportunity to remove PFAS from plastic packaging thereby reducing its overall prevalence in the environment IF we pass the Packaging Reduction and Recycling Infrastructure Act. States will have to make up for Federal sabotage. @speakercarlheastie.bsky.social @governor.ny.gov
Clever move. The EU has recently banned PFAS for most uses. The limit values will also be gradually lowered to 0.02 µg/l. These are opportunities for the US industry. Fools.

If I could roll my eyes any harder, they’d start spinning around in the sockets.
Who the fuck will pay the rich assholes taxes for them?
