Truly dreadful for the Myanmar and Thailand, fact that Mandalay authorities (junta) has requested external international assistance shows how bad situation is.

Thoughts and prayers all at this extremely challenging and difficult time.

exactly. it is a very closed off country. I've been to the 4cities foreigners are allowed to visit - intense vibes, but the archaeology is gorgeous - if you speak to a local/ask a question, they may be interrogated by the army to find out what? why? etc etc - very poor - thanks so much for your care

fyi - Khaosarn/Banglamphu area is all torn up due to new subway construction - traffic is horrible - now, after the earthquake it will be bad in the northern chattuchak/mo chit area as well - enjoy Songkran - thanks so much 💙

This is why I get so angry when fools come in here and try telling us that building codes are unnecessary impediments to development.

Those assholes should be forced to do recovery work and carrying bodies of the victims they seek to create more of.
