Just one of several moments in the last 14 months where I wonder whether this is when ostensibly progressive people in my life confront their indoctrination & experience the soul-shaking horror of their own mealy-mouthed complicity

Every one of these moments contains within it every previous one & telescopes backwards in time to remind me of how a monthβs worth of news cycles were spent handwringing over whether or not Israel could be said to have bombed a hospital
Handwringing? If only! I was told by mobs that it was Hamas and could only ever be Hamas, until after the same things happened, those people decided they simply didnβt care. It was Trumpian denial in the moment.
I hear this but I think it's worth saying that no one person (who isn't US President lol lmao) can stop a genocide alone, & to be part of a mass of people turning up every day to do whatever they can is necessary & crucial. A friend showed me this recently & I find the visualization useful.
when this current stage of the conflict started, a bit over a year ago, I had multiple people on Facebook unfriend me and yell at me because I quoted that one bit in Ancillary Sword that ends with "What will it take for you to listen?"
I don't find Amnesty International particularly moving or that press needs to republish their press releases
Especially after some of the stuff they have done & said against Ukraine, and continue to do; including trying to bury their own internal review that pointed out some of the issues
