First time I moved into business rather than academia I was shocked at what people called AI. "Basic bitch shit" has been called AI by businesses for many years for kudos.

I'd just about accepted it as language changing...and along comes genAI...

I have never had a grown-up job other than a brief stint as a database programmer, and fortunately no one there was calling something I could figure out how to program on my own AI. 🤣 SO I have never experienced that until recently!

Not all AI is LLM
We use AI for over a decade, but unfortunately when LLM came along they ruined the word AI
In itself AI is quite useful and is not just repackaged Google search. Self driving cars, all the smart things our phones can do, these are things that we had long before LLM became popular

For probably obvious reasons, at this point if I don't know for sure that whatever service a tech company in question is offering me wasn't trained on books that some other company stole from me (and oh man, they stole SO MANY books from me) I just avoid it in general. Piracy tanked the brand.
